As well as looking after our own-made bassoons we work on all other makes of bassoon and contrabassoon from student level to professional and baroque to modern.
Our repairers are professional bassoonists and contrabassoonists in their own right, and will carry out work on your instrument to the standard they would expect for themselves.
The Waterhouse Bassoon Day 2026 - another huge success!
This weekend The Waterhouse Bassoon Day 2026 was attended by around 50 bassoon players and enthusiasts, who made the trek from all over the UK, as well as many from overseas. It was another huge success!
A quality restoration is never simply done. A great bassoon is never simply made.
They are learned.
Learned through years of listening to players, studying instruments, solving problems, asking better questions and refusing easy answers. Learned through the quiet accumulation of knowledge: in the workshop, in conversation, in repair, in restoration, in playing, in failure, in refinement.
For fifteen years, we lived inside the world of bassoons.
We met the musicians who depend on them. We worked on instruments that had carried music for generations. We learned what players notice immediately, what they discover slowly, and what they only miss when it is absent.
