Who we are, what we do
Ludlow Bassoons is based in Newport, South Wales in the United Kingdom. The company was established in 2011 under the name of Double Reed Ltd. and throughout its history has been entirely focussed on bassoons - buying them, selling them, repairing and restoring them. And supplying accessories and reeds used by bassoonists.
As we gained more insight into the mechanics, acoustics and performance of bassoons, and as we learnt a great deal about what bassoonists want from their bassoons, in 2016 our thoughts turned to applying that knowledge to our own range of bassoons.
New Name for a New Venture
In October 2026 we changed our trading name to Ludlow Bassoons to herald the launch of our own bassoons after 10 years of thought, discussion and work.
Our bassoons are all designed and made in our workshop in South Wales.
We are the same company - same owners, staff - continuing our work selling bassoons and repairing and restoring them. Making our own bassoons is additional to, not instead of, our previous work.
