Charles Rust was of German/Swiss or Austrian origin, and worked in Lyon, a major centre for woodwind making in the 18th and 19th centuries, second only to Paris in France. He was active from around 1807-28.

The Ludlow Rust bassoon is an eight key classical instrument based on an original Charles Rust bassoon in our allied Veriam Music Trust collection.

The Ludlow Rust is pitched at A=430Hz, as is the original.

Designed and crafted wholly in our workshop. 

The Ludlow Rust features:

  • Air dried, aged maple body finished in oil-based varnish

  • Eight brass keys
